Leisure Battery - For Caravan & Motorhomes

At National Tyres and Autocare, we offer a wide range of leisure batteries for caravans and motorhomes. If you are unsure whether you need a leisure battery for your vehicle, please click the following article where we explain how a leisure battery differs from a car battery: Everything you need to know about Leisure Batteries.

What are leisure batteries?

A leisure battery is designed to store power over a long period of time. A leisure battery will release a lower amount of energy over an extended period of time. Leisure batteries can power a range of essentials such as caravans, motorhomes and boats, as well as fridges and other electrical appliances.

What are CCA, AH and NCC gradings?

AH stands for Ampere-hours. The AH grade tells you how many amps a battery can provide in one hour.

The CCA rating relates to the leisure batteries ability to start the engine in low temperatures.

The NCC grading is graded from A-C. Category A is a leisure battery that supplies a higher storage capacity. These leisure batteries are aimed at users who regularly use their caravan or motorhomes. If your caravan or motorhome is frequently away from an electrical hook up, then a Category A leisure battery would be the best battery for you.

Category B is aimed at appliances that require greater battery capacity. For example, if you use a motorhome frequently and use electrical hook up facilities, but you need a higher power consumption, then a Category B leisure battery would be the best battery for you.

Category C batteries are lower capacity batteries that cover the basic operation of habitation equipment for short periods away from an electrical hook up. If you own a motorhome or caravan and are frequently using an electrical hook up but require a lower power consumption (for example: the occasional use of lights)  then a Category C battery would be the best for you.
