Fiat cars: A history
Few automakers around the world have such an interesting history as Italy’s Fiat. With more than 100 years in the business, Fiat has experienced incredible successes, failures and a recent revival (powered in part by the global success of the Fiat 500). As well as producing a large range of cars and vans, the Fiat company owns several of the world’s top luxury automotive brands, including Maserati and Ferrari.
Fiat cars are manufactured in several countries, with facilities in Italy, Brazil, Poland, Mexico, and the UK. Fiat cars use standard-size tyres, so there’s no problem finding tyres that fit your car. Read on to learn more about the best tyres for your Fiat car.
What tyre brand does Fiat use?
Fiat’s are usually factory-fitted with tyres from Continental. Continental is a premium tyre manufacturer, with its production tyres providing top levels of performance and durability. Fiat and Continental collaborate to ensure that the tyres on your new car will enhance its performance, elevating the driving experience.
Can I buy Fiat winter tyres?
Winter tyres are specially designed to perform in challenging weather conditions. When the temperature drops below 7 degrees, winter tyres will ensure your Fiat maintains optimal grip in snow and ice. Winter tyres feature a specially designed tread pattern that prevents the tyre from becoming clogged with snow. This increases grip and reduces the risk of skidding, slipping and sliding.
You can find a wide range of Fiat winter car tyres online and in all National stores. Check out the details of each tyre to see its performance in winter.
What size tyres are on a Fiat?
The fastest way to find your Fiat car’s tyre size is to enter its registration number at the top of this page. You’ll find details of your Fiat’s tyre size and be able to see a selection of tyres that will fit your car.
If you don’t know the registration, you can find your tyre size in your Fiat’s manual or check the inside of your car’s fuel cap.
You can also find your tyre size on the sidewall of your current tyres. Here, you should see characters in a similar format to 215 50 R16 96W. These numbers detail the tyre width, profile, wheel size and speed rating. Any new tyres that you purchase for your Fiat must match the current specifications, otherwise, they will not fit on your vehicle.
When should I change my Fiat car tyres?
You should replace the tyres on your Fiat once their tread depth drops below 3mm. While the legal tread depth limit is 1.6mm, we recommend replacing them before they get this low. This will ensure the best handling and braking performance.
The most efficient way to check tyre tread depth is with a tread depth gauge. If you don’t have one to hand, you can use a 20p coin. Insert the coin into the tyre groove. If the coin's border is covered, you have sufficient tread depth. If the border of the coin is visible, then your tyres have less than 1.6mm of tread depth and must be replaced as soon as possible. Driving on worn-out tyres isn’t just dangerous, you can also be subject to prosecution, potentially receiving a fine and penalty points on your licence.
What tyres should I fit to my Fiat Bravo?
The Fiat Bravo is sporty and spacious and is loved by long-distance drivers. The Fiat Bravo is originally equipped with the Continental ContiSportContact3 tyres. You can fit these again, but we also think that Goodyear GT3 tyres and Avon ZZ3 tyres are also good replacements. If you're looking for a budget Fiat car tyre, consider Uniroyal Rainsport2 tyres.
