Honda Tyres

Established in 1959, Japan’s Honda Motors is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of motorcycles. But the company’s cars are also making people sit up and take notice. In some markets Honda cars have a premium image, while in others they are considered practical and efficient ‘engineering designs’ befitting a leading automotive company.

In general, owning a Honda car is a smart choice because Honda is definitely value for money and much more. And when you have a Honda car, inevitably the need for Honda tyres pops up sooner or later. And when that does occur, remember that you just have to visit www.national.co.uk. At National Tyres & Autocare, we have the widest range of Honda tyres.

The Honda Jazz is a fun contemporary car that combines fuel efficiency perfectly with the pleasure of driving. If you are looking for replacement Honda tyres for your Jazz, the Bridgestone Ecopia range should be your first choice. For enhanced wet safety and increased fuel efficiency, also consider the Pirelli Cinturato P6 tyres and the Continental EcoContact range.

And before you ask, yes, all these models and more are available at National Tyres & Autocare and orders can be placed online for your Honda tyres.

What brand tyres does Honda use?

When leaving the factory, Honda’s are fitted with premium tyres. These tyres are usually from Goodyear, Bridgestone or Dunlop. The use of premium tyres allows the driver to get the maximum performance out of their new Honda, as well as ensuring the tyres last for many miles.

Honda recently partnered with Goodyear to fit their tyres on all the Honda Civic models. Goodyear offers many high-performance options, perfect for the Honda Civic. Premium tyres are especially important on the high-performance model of the car, the Honda Civic Type R, in order to get maximum performance and traction out of the powerful car.

Does Honda use run-flat tyres?

Depending on the model, some Honda’s are fitted with run-flat tyres when they leave the factory. Run-flat tyres are a great option, as they allow the driver to safely drive to a garage in the event of a puncture or deflation.

This is thanks to the run-flat technology, which features reinforced sidewalls. This can support the car for a short journey, long enough for the driver to safely get to a garage for a repair or replacement.

Do Honda’s need winter tyres?

When the temperature drops below 7 degrees Celsius, winter tyres should be used on a Honda. They offer more grip in cold conditions, and therefore reduce the chance of skidding when driving in snow or ice. The wide tyre grooves prevent snow from clogging the tyre, which would cause a major loss of grip.

When should Honda tyres be replaced?

You should replace Honda tyres once the tread depth is below 3mm. If the tread is below 3mm, the stopping distance will significantly increase, meaning your braking will be less effective. You’ll also suffer from worse rolling resistance, and therefore be less fuel efficient.

The legal limit to tread depth is 1.6mm. You can easily check this with a 20p coin. Simply place the coin into the tyre groove, and if the outer band of the coin is covered, you are above the legal limit. If you can see the band of the coin, your tyres are under the legal limit and will need replacing immediately.
