New Focus on MOT’s at National
20 Feb 2007
2007 will see an increased focus on MOT’s for National Tyres and Autocare. National plans to have a further twenty branches online by the end of the year, on top of over fifty branches currently offering MOT servicing.
National’s Guildford and Cambridge branches are already onboard, having recently launched new Automated MOT Test Lanes (ATLs), The ATL equipment consists of the very latest computer controlled brake tester for improved accuracy combined with hydraulically operated turn and shaker plates which help the MOT tester to detect wear on steering and suspension components without the weight of the vehicle disguising the faults.
Dave McKimm, MOT Project Manager, confirmed, “We’re hoping to bring a further twenty branches online before the end of the year made up of a mixture of ATL and standard lanes.”
Ashton-under-Lyne, commenced MOT testing at the beginning of February, and the Cardiff Coebridge Road branch will come on line as another ATL site by the end of March.
There are also proposals being discussed which if implemented will increase the annual test to a biannual test. Dave McKimm, MOT Project Manager Commented “ I have expressed my concerns about this proposal, The MOT test detects many defect on vehicles presented for test, to examine vehicles every 2 years will inevitably mean seriously defective vehicles running much longer on roads. The affects of road safety could be extremely detrimental when you consider the number of failures and indeed traffic accident being directly attributed to defective tyres, brakes and steering components”.
MOT’s are a hugely important for safety and detection of faults which makes them a priority for National Tyres and Autocare who are committed to ensuring the highest possible standards.
