Porsche 911 Carrera 4S – The Ultimate in Refinement
Porsche has designed its new 911 Carrera 4S with comfort, expediency and utmost refinement in mind. Of course, the lean and mean looks of this
evergreen supercar will definitely bowl you over once it hits the roads in UK this December.
One more 911 to sport a four-wheel-drive transmission, Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, is a very sophisticated addition to the 911 family. This
coupe is engineered to deliver advanced security in the form of electronically powered PTM, Porsche Traction Management system, which genuinely enhances
this new 911’s supercar credentials.
This new supercar from Porsche differs in appearance from the Carrera 2 in more ways than one. This one has C-strakes for air-ingestion in the front as
compared to solid ones across the entire air intake area in Carrera 2. The most prominent change, however, is the broader bodyshell and fenders extended by
22mm on each side. The organically curved wheel arches cover 20-inch alloy wheels, which are enveloped by 10mm broader tyres compared to the 65kg heavier
Keeping in line with traditions, Porsche has included a red light strip running from one tail-lamp to another, identical to the 1985 super model – Porsche
959. The Carrera 4S is characterised with clearly defined shutlines and futuristic lights, which combined with the rest of the exteriors, give this 911 a
robust appearance, while making it look lean and elegant.

The interiors maintain their classic subtlety. The new dial shows the power percentage being delivered to each axle at any given time, being the only major
modification. This addition constantly reminds you of the extreme smoothness of PTM. In case the PTM perceives wheel slippage or hard acceleration, the
electro-hydraulic clutch fitted at the centre of this 911, transmits requisite power to the front wheels in an unbelievable 100ms, and the entire process
is actually imperceptible.
The electrically-aided steering wheel is smooth, lightweight and pretty direct. A firm and supple ride, both on the motorway and a rough back road, is an
assurance even when the optional regular mode is selected on the chassis control. The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S exhibits superb body control
on an undulated road surface, due to the extra traction generated by the four-wheel-drive.
The 3.8 litre flat-six engine, the seven-speed PDK gear set up and the suspension system are all straightaway taken from the Carrera 2S. The 395bhp engine
enables this 911 to go from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds and touch the top speed of 186mph. The fuel efficiency is a decent 31.0mpg, while the CO2
emission rate is 215g/km.
The excellent feel of the brake pedal, the superb throttle response felt especially while shifting gears manually via the flaps on the steering wheel,
great visibility and the addictive hum of the engine, all add to the refinement quotient of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.
The host of features and that feeling of extra security etched in your subconscious due to the classy dial on the dash is your reward for an investment of
