Mike Bourne | 11th April 2012

We have discovered the price for the latest Škoda Citigo, and it is friendlier to your bank balance than the closest competitors VW up! and the SEAT Mii in the small car segment.

The Appearance and Promises

For all the automobile lovers and especially Škoda aficionados out there, the price announcement for Citigo was one of the most awaited ones in UK for the year 2012. The automobile industry is a step closer to the launch of this much-anticipated model with this declaration recently.

Škoda’s debut level endeavor in the rapidly expanding small car segment assures a lissome drive on the roads, remarkable interiors in terms of space and aesthetics and is sure to set new standards in technical superiority. This leading brand’s Citigo seems like a complete package in terms of looks and functionality. It’s all set to entice a modern city car buyer.

Škoda lays stress on overall security and tyre safety. And the brand has already proved its integrity by earning five stars on this front from the eminent Euro NCAP.

The Basic

At a decent £7,630 for the three-door basic model, the basic Citigo is all set to overpower the Seat Mii and the VW UP! by £215 and £365 respectively. This model, Citigo S comes with a standard, manual 5-speed gear system, 14-inch of wheels with sturdy steel, airbags for the head and the thorax, a state-of-the-art CD player, one auxiliary port and a 54bhp, 1.0 litre, tri-cylinder petrol-propelled engine. You will need to shell out £350 more for a basic five-door Citigo!

The Mid-range

Next in line to impress one and all is the mid-range Citigo SE, which is an excellent example of cost vs. benefits. It is the best among the range for the value it provides for the basic price of £8,530 for a 3-door model and £8,880 if you need two extra doors!! The appealing look due to the mirrors and handles in the same color as that of the body, the centralized locking via remote, the super-efficient air-conditioning and electrically operable front windows, is all worth the price. Also, the SE comes with enhanced standards of safety.

The Premium

The flagship model of the Škoda Citigo range, Elegance, boasts of 14-inch alloy wheels, fog-aiding lamps in the front, efficient heating for the electrically regulated mirrors and the front seats and a steering wheel spruced up with chic leather. Elegance will be launched with Skoda’s GreenTec wrap up, which will make this option of Citigo dearer by £350-£410 than other trimmer versions. The GreenTec package comes with efficient start and stop function, advanced braking system, tyres with lower resistance to rolling and a compact ride height. Due to all these features, Elegance will impart a great 68.9mpg and will give out a low CO2 at 96g/km.

Another exceptional feature includes Skoda’s advanced infotainment device called a PID which will serve as a handy personal computer, an efficient navigation unit, a multi-media device and Bluetooth connector to the car owner. The Elegance will be all yours for a price of £9,470 for the 3-way entry version and £9,820 for a 5-door model.

The Skoda Citigo will hit the retail market in June this year.
